Level 5 Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH), anyone authorising the sale by retail or the supply of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence.

In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must by law hold a licensing qualification which is:

  • Exam by British Institute of Innkeeping (BII)

  • Level 5 Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, is both SQA approved, and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2008.

  • Candidate has to correctly answer any 28 or more questions within the 60 minutes allowed.

  • Candidates normally receive their results within 7-10 working days.
  • For those who do not achieve a pass, a re-sit will be required.
  • On successful assessment candidates will receive.
  • The Level 5 Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders which meets the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2008 and is recognised by all licensing authorities as evidence of the applicant's knowledge and understanding of licensing law and the social responsibilities associated with running licensed premises.
